Va. National Guard hosts inaugural Women’s Summit

Fort Pickett, Virginia - Soldiers participate in the inaugural Women's Summit, hosted by the Virginia National Guard's Recruiting and Retention Battalion and held June 19, 2019, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. The event included break-out sessions on topics including fitness, military history, leadership, how to achieve a work/life balance and better understanding why women serve and continue to serve in the military. Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Michele S. Jones, the first female command sergeant major for the U.S Army Reserves and current Vice Chair of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, shared her leadership and life philosophy with the women in attendance.
