Lynchburg-based infantry battalion returns to Virginia from Iraqi duty

Roanoke, Virginia - Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard's Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry returned to Virginia Aug. 25, 2010, after serving on federal active duty in Iraq since March 2010. After being greeted by senior leaders from the Virginia Guard and World War II veterans from the 29th Infantry Division Association at the Roanoke Regional Airport, Soldiers boarded buses for their home armory in Lynchburg to be reunited with their families.
