WHO MAY APPLY: Open to all AGR/Military Technician/Traditional/ Active of any Armed Forces Soldiers in grades E6/SSG through E7/SFC who members of the Virginia Army National Guard or able to become members of Virginia Army National Guard.
• Preferred candidates are those who currently have 74D and/or are R1 qualified and have completed ALC.
• The start date is contingent on availability of funding from NGB.
• Individuals must not be under Suspension of Favorable Personnel Actions (Flag).
• Must not be within six (6) months of mandatory removal or Expiration Term of Service (ETS).
• To qualify as a CBRN Specialist (74D), Soldiers must possess the following qualifications:
• A physical demands rating of Moderate (Gold).
• A physical profile of 122221
• Normal color vision.
• Qualifying scores.
• A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area ST on Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests administered prior to 02 January 2002.
• A minimum score of 91 in aptitude area ST on ASVAB tests administered on and after 02 January 2002 and prior to 01 October 2013.
• A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area ST on ASVAB tests administered on and after 01 October 2013.

SPECIAL INFORMATION
• Must successfully complete the 8-week Civil Support Skills Course (CSSC) SQI of R1 and all Basic-level Specialized Training Requirements IAW NGR 500-3/ANGI 10-2053 within 12 months of hiring.
• Must complete Department of Defense / IFSAC Hazardous Materials Technician certification and maintain annual proficiency as a HAZMAT Technician while serving on the CST.
• Must obtain and maintain all individual training and certification requirements as prescribed in the CST Garrison Standard Operating Guidelines, including, but not limited to, annual Combat Lifesaver Certification and CPR/BLS Certification. All personnel assigned to the CST must complete training in the Incident Command System (minimum of IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800).
• Mandatory Stabilization period is 3 years from completion of CSSC or start date if already R1 qualified.
• CST Members are required to maintain 24/7/365 availability to respond to a no- notice alert IAW state and national response requirements.
• Applicant must complete an OSHA physical and meet OSHA standards for wearing personal protective equipment (including respiratory screening).
• Applicant must complete a CNGB 3501.00 compliant pre-placement physical examination within 30 days of placement on the WMD-CST.
• Must relocate and reside within 60 miles of Fort Pickett, Blackstone, VA; PCS is authorized.
• Must not be color blind or claustrophobic.
• Must possess state driver's license and be able to be qualified to operate military vehicles which are organic to the unit.
• This assignment requires extensive travel for training and response operations.
• Applicant must possess or be able to possess a SECRET clearance and maintain an active government travel card.
• Must meet any special requirements as specified on the CST Position Description.
• Must have a passing ACFT/AFT and Height & Weight within 6 months of the submission of your application. Any Soldier selected for this position who do not meet the above mentioned ACFT/AFT and Height & Weight requirement will need to complete an ACFT/AFT and Height & Weight prior to receiving a start date.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet all selection criteria IAW AR 40-501, AR 135-18, AR 600-8-2, AR 600-60, NGR 500-3, NGR 600-5, NGR 600-200, and NGR 601-

1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The CBRN NCOIC is responsible for the leadership, training, maintenance, and operational readiness of the WMD CST Survey Team. Key duties include conducting sustainment and physical fitness training, maintaining OSHA Technician certifications, and integrating advanced detection and sample collection technologies into team training. The NCOIC in operational settings, conducts cart inspections, downrange reconnaissance, emergency rescue operations, and oversees sample collection. They manage the chain of custody for WMD samples, monitor team movements within contaminated zones, and ensure proper PPE use and hazard marking. Additionally, the NCOIC develops operational checklists, reports on incident site layouts, and employs safety guidelines to recommend respiratory protection. They supervise logistics and maintenance of equipment valued at over $3 million, manage dispatching of rolling stock, and mentor a multi-agency team. This role requires a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency, and team readiness to respond effectively to WMD incidents. Serves as the WMD CST Survey Team Leader in the absence of the assigned Survey Team Leader.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Position requires a “SECRET” security clearance. Must be able to obtain as a minimum, an “interim” clearance prior to appointment to the position. Soldiers with a prior revoked or denied clearance are not eligible for either an interim or a waiver and should not apply. If tentatively selected for a position and Soldier cannot be granted an interim clearance prior to appointment to the position, the offer for the position maybe revoked, Non-USA citizens are not eligible for a security clearance per DOD 5200.2R.

6. Last 3 years of DTMS ACFT/AFT history or DA Form 705 cards and DTMS HT/WT history printout or DA Form 5500/5501 (include all DA Forms 3349 if applicable).
7. Documentation to support all periods of duty/service creditable for retirement. Any of the following may be used DD Form 214, DA Form 1506 or NGB Forms 23A/23B.
