WHO MAY APPLY: Open to all Military Technician/Traditional Soldiers in grades E-4
through E-6 who are members of the Virginia Army National Guard.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
a. General: An active Secret Security clearance prior to submitting CD application
is required (Top Secret clearance is preferred but not required). Applicants
must be a member of the Virginia National Guard. An associate degree, bache-
lor’s degree, and/or master’s degree is preferred, but not required. Compatible
educational background in aviation is desired.
b. Experience: Applicants must be Readiness Level (RL) 1 and current in the UH-
72A airframe as well as Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licensed. MX-15 camera
operator experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must be eligible
for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualified for Class III flying duties. Law
Enforcement experience is strongly desired but not required. Applicants must
have at least 18 months of experience and/or appropriate training in such func-
tions as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and mod-
ifying the aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and related ground support
equipment. Experience and/or appropriate training that would demonstrate a
thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and components in electrical, fuel, hy-
draulic, environmental and mechanical principles is required. The applicant en-
sures proper work sequence planning and review, as well as a thorough under-
standing of technical orders, maintenance regulations and management oper-
ating procedures. The applicant must be eligible for NGB Non-Aviator Flying
Status and qualified for Class III flying duties.
c. Other: Applicants must be able to complete the determined tour of military duty
prior to ETS. Applicants must have reliable transportation and live within (50)
miles of the duty station (as described on the duty locations listed). Outside
employment associations and off-duty conduct/activities must be consistent
with federal directives on ethics and with state and federal conflict of interest
policies.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages, monitors or
performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or
more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex
conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night oper-
ations. Works with and coordinates work of other aircraft mechanics. Performs dam-
age assessments and repairs. Participates in mission preparation, mission execution,
and recovery operations. Oversees installation of equipment for special missions. Ex-
pedites aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfigu-
rations of equipment for changes in operational missions. Performs preflight through
post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Serves as the
technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical,
electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned air-
craft.
SPECIAL INFORMATION
a. Applicant must receive a letter of recommendation from his/her unit commander
and be in good standing with their unit.
b. Applicant must have a current physical (every 5 years) and obtain an Annual
Physical Health Assessment (PHA). In order to remain on Counterdrug orders,
all personnel must be deployable. Temporary medical conditions are exceptions.
c. Applicant cannot have any permanent or temporary profiles that will interfere with
the ability to perform the required duties.
d. Applicant must perform all scheduled weekend drills (IDT) and Annual Training
with their M-day unit of assignment.
e. Applicant is subject to urinalysis testing prior to entry on active duty and periodic
testing while on active duty. This is in addition to testing at the unit level.
f. Favorable interview by the Counterdrug Coordinator (CDC).
g. Applicant WILL have an active secret clearance at the time of application.
h. Favorable criminal background check.
i. Applicant is required to comply with DOD 5500.7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation
(JER), and Conflict of Interest policies. Applicants must uphold the highest
standards of conduct and personal appearance.
j. Applicant must maintain and meet Physical Training (AFT) and height/weight
standards. A current Passing record DA Form 705 and DA Form 5500/5501 is re-
quired (within 6 months prior to application). No applicants with flagging actions
will be considered.
k. If promotion (advancement in pay grade) is known or anticipated within the next
12 months applicant should inform CDC or designated selection board of that
possibility to afford the program’s proper cost planning for the applicant’s pay and
allowances while on CD-ADOS. Any promotions could affect employment with
the Counterdrug Task Force and would need to be reviewed by the CDC IAW
Task Force policies prior to promotion. Failure to adhere to Counterdrug policies
may be cause for termination IAW CNGBM 3100.01.

b. Technicians. Soldiers who currently occupy a technician position must ensure
their technician chain of command (O5 level or equivalent) is aware of the ADOS appli-
cation and approves of this temporary assignment, should you be selected.
