Virginia National Guard Youth Program

The mission of Army National Guard (ARNG) Child & Youth Services (CYS) is to promote and sustain the quality of life and resilience of Army National Guard dependent children and youth by providing secure, timely, flexible, high-quality support services and enrichment programs.

These are achieved through youth development events, education, outreach, and community partnerships. In addition to this, the CYS assists in the transitions through deployment and reintegration.

Virginia National Guard Youth enjoy a day-long, outdoor camp Aug. 21, 2021, at the Jamestown 4-H Center in Jamestown, Virginia. “Camp on the Move!” was a series of single-day events hosted at 4-H centers throughout the summer in Virginia Beach, Wakefield, Appomattox, Roanoke, and Jamestown and focused on building connections and resilience among Virginia National Guard youth.

The Virginia National Guard Youth Program is back with "Camp On The Move!" this summer, a series of single day, camp-style events at different 4-H Center locations across the state. The camps, which will take place in Front Royal, Appomattox and Williamsburg, will offer National Guard Youth the opportunity to build resiliency and connect with their peers while engaging in activities such as canoeing, high rope and low rope courses, archery and so much more.  

Cooking With Your Coordinators April 13, 2022, at 7pm. In this online event, participants can join their VNG Youth Coordinators as they lead youth in baking celebration cookies to celebrate Month of the Military Child. This online event is open to all military youth, ages 6-17. After registering, participants will receive further instructions and additional information on ingredients, items, etc.

April is Month of the Military Child and the Virginia National Guard Youth Program has a number of events planned to recognize and honor the service of Virginia's youngest heroes- over 80,000 military-connected children.

RICHMOND, Va. – April is the Month of the Military Child, a special month to recognize and pay tribute to military families and their children for the daily sacrifices and for their commitment, courage, and unconditional support of our Armed Forces. To show how much they are appreciated, the National Guard Youth Program is saluting the children of Soldiers and Airmen with personalized certificates and proclamations. Service members who would like to their child to receive a personalized certificate and Month of the Military Child Proclamation should sign up at https://2021momccerts.splashthat.com
