Virginia National Guard Youth Program

The mission of Army National Guard (ARNG) Child & Youth Services (CYS) is to promote and sustain the quality of life and resilience of Army National Guard dependent children and youth by providing secure, timely, flexible, high-quality support services and enrichment programs.

These are achieved through youth development events, education, outreach, and community partnerships. In addition to this, the CYS assists in the transitions through deployment and reintegration.

Children of Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen enjoy a variety of activities at the 18th annual Virginia National Guard Youth Camp July 26, 2023, at the State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia. 60 campers enjoy 18th annual Virginia National Guard Youth Camp

Children of Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen enjoyed a variety of activities at the 18th annual Virginia National Guard Youth Camp July 23-28, 2023, at the State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The camp featured educational activities, team building exercises, displays from National Guard units and local first responders, a flag retirement ceremony, an afternoon at the beach and trips to the Virginia Aquarium and Nauticus.

Members of the Virginia National Guard State Teen Panel come together for their fifth meeting of the season and to celebrate Month of the Military Child April 15, 2023, at an outdoor adventure park in Williamsburg, Virginia. STP members act as the voice of all National Guard teens and youth throughout the state of Virginia and members gain valuable training in resilience, leadership, communication, and group facilitation.

The new year has kicked off for the Virginia National Guard Youth Program with a number of activities as they prepare for this summer’s Youth Camp.

Campers enjoy 17th annual Virginia National Guard Youth Camp

More than 55 children of Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen enjoyed the 17th annual Virginia National Guard Youth Camp July 24-29, 2022, at the State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia. 

Virginia National Guard Family Programs presents awards and certificates of appreciation to their volunteers during the State Volunteer Recognition Workshop and Youth Symposium Aug. 14, 2022, in Newport News, Virginia. During the ceremony, the National Guard Bureau Family Programs Region 3 Volunteer of the Year award was presented to April Fisher, a volunteer with the Suffolk-based Bravo Troop, 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
