Equal Employment Opportunity

Mission Statement

The Virginia National Guard Equal Employment Office (EEO) serves as the advisor to the Adjutant General of Virginia. The EEO Office supports the three pillars in the agencies strategic plan, by ensuring all employees are afforded an opportunity to work in an environment free from discrimination based on: race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity), genetic information, national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information and reprisal.

As our agency continues to strive in becoming a model employer, we empower our diverse workforce to be ready and responsive by meeting and exceeding the needs of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Role of Equal Employment Opportunity

The role of the Virginia National Guard Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office is to: serve as a neutral party to complainants and supervisors, develop and implement policy procedures, provide regulatory guidance as it
pertains to filing an EEO complaint, educating the Virginia National Guard workforce on the EEO complaint process, sexual harassment in the workplace and various training (i.e. Supervisor/New Hire/Focus Groups, Reasonable
