Fellow service members of the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Defense Force, and the Virginia Department of Military Affairs:

It is a distinct honor and privilege to serve as the 29th Adjutant General of Virginia. I am honored Governor Youngkin selected me to serve in this important role, and I look forward to serving with you as we build total force readiness in support of our Commonwealth and Nation. As a total force of joint uniform service members and civilians, the Virginia National Guard has a distinct history that predates the founding of our Nation.

Since 1607, the militia members of the Commonwealth stood ready at the call, to serve for the peace and stability of their fellow citizens, both at home and abroad. The Virginia National Guard carries forth the honorable tradition of Citizen Soldiers and Airmen who serve as vital members of our joint force in selfless service to our Commonwealth and Nation.

VALUES: We will remain a force that upholds the values of the Department of Defense, the Army and the Air Force. These values will remain at the very core of our individual and collective service.

DoD: Duty, integrity, ethics, honor, courage, and loyalty.
Army: Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Air Force: Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.

Internalize each of these values and uphold them individually and collectively as you perform your duties as citizens and members of the Virginia National Guard.

READINESS: Readiness is our individual and collective responsibility. Organizational readiness starts with individual readiness. Excellence in service before self. Excellence in our duties and responsibilities. Excellence in setting the conditions for others to excel. Excellence in setting the standard and upholding the standard for others to follow. Excellence in becoming masters of our trade at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels of military employment.

SUSTAIN THE FORCE: As we move forward in service, know that each of you are valued members of this great organization. You are recognized for your skills and abilities and the role you play as a vital member of the joint force. Sustain the force through your continued commitment and professional service. Grow the force by inviting others to join the honorable profession of the Citizen Soldier, Airmen and Civilian!
