Virginia National Guard Referral Enlistment Program

Any individual meeting the criteria can refer candidates, known as “Leads” to the Virginia National Guard Recruiters for enlistment into the National Guard for an incentive of no less than five-hundred-dollars ($500.00)

Process 
  • The following individuals are eligible to become PDCs and receive the referral incentive: 
    • A legal Virginia resident, over the age of 18, who provides a documented and verified lead to a VNG recruiter who enlists into the VNG and meets the designated benchmarks. 
    • A current or retired member of the VNG who provides a documented and verified lead to a VNG recruiter who enlists into the VNG and meets the designated benchmarks. 
    • Current members in the VARNG Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) and VAANG Student Flight Program.
  • The following individuals are ineligible to become PDCs and receive the referral incentive: 
    • Current members of the VNG’s Army or Air Recruiting and Retention Units, their spouses and additional members of their household are ineligible to participate in the REP or receive the referral incentive. 
    • Individuals working directly with VNG Army or Air Recruiting on other recruiting programs or initiatives, including on Active Duty for Operational Support (ADOS) or One-Time Occasional Tours (OTOT), are ineligible to participate in the REP or receive the referral incentive. This excludes RSP and VAANG Student Flight Program Members.
    • Individuals working as interservice transition coordinators, their spouses and additional members of their household are ineligible to participate in the REP or receive the referral incentive.
  • Respective Recruiting Commands are the final authority on determining a specific individual’s eligibility to participate in the REP.
 
  • A monetary incentive of no less than five-hundred-dollars ($500) incentive paid in up to two installments to a PDC when the following benchmarks are met:
    • The initial fifty percent will be paid to the PDC for each documented lead who signs a VNG enlistment contract provided to a VNG recruiter.
    • The remaining fifty percent will be paid once the lead successfully meets one of the following criteria: 
      • The completion of IADT for new recruits and VAARNG recruits with prior un-qualified service. 
      • The completion of BCT/BMT for new recruits who are eligible and participate in the Split Training Option. 
      • The completion of Technical Training for VAANG prior service enlistees. 
      • The signing of an ROTC contract after the recruit has enlisted in the VAARNG. 
    • One hundred percent will be paid upon enlistment for recruits who possess qualified prior service in either the United States Armed Forces or the VNG, or who are already under contract with ROTC at the time of enlistment. 
    • An additional five-hundred-dollars ($500.00) incentive can be paid to a PDC in one installment for successfully enlisting a Lead in any of the following critical job areas: 
      • VaARNG: 11-series (Infantry), 13-series (Field Artillery), 19-series (Armor), and 12B (Combat Engineer).
  • VAANG: 3E4X1 (Water and Fuels System Maintenance), 3E3X1 (Air Force Structural Specialist), 3E2X1 (Pavements and Construction Equipment), 2A7X5 (Low Observable Aircraft Structural Maintenance), and 2W0X1 (Munitions Systems).

Eligibility to become a PDC

Basic Eligibility Requirements to become a Soldier within the Virginia Army National Guard

  • Be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
  • Achieve a minimum score on the ASVAB test
  • Meet medical, physical and moral requirements

Basic Eligibility Requirements to become an Airman within the Virginia Air National Guard

  • Be between the ages of 17 and 39
  • Be a legal resident
  • Be at least a senior in high school, or have a high school diploma or equivalency
  • Must pass the entrance exam, medical screening, and a background check

Have you previously served in the military? Prior Service requirements

  • Age: Must qualify for non-regular retired pay by age 60
  • Physical: Must meet height/weight and current medical requirements
  • Education: Must meet education standards for the MOS or option for which you enlist
  • Background: Must have most current DD 214, NGB22 or discharge order and have an approved DD Form 368 Conditional Release
