1. This vacancy announcement is for the positions of Inspector General NCO, Sergeant First Class (SFC)/ E7.

d. Position Military Occupational Specialty: 00F4B
e. Eligibility Criteria:
(1) Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
(a) Hold the rank of SFC/ E7.
(b) Hold the grade of E6 with at least 36 months Time-in-Grade (TIG) and 9 years Time-In-Service (TIS) and must have at least 3 years Remaining Service Obligation (RSO) on the effective date of his/ her promotion and be on the current SFC EPS List.
(2) Selected applicant must submit a nomination packet in accordance with AR 20-1, Inspector General Activities and Procedures, be approved by the Inspector General of the Army. Upon approval, selected individuals must attend and graduate the U.S. Army Inspector General’s Course within 6 months of selection. The Inspector General’s Course is a 3-week resident course and is conducted at Fort Belvoir, VA.
(3) Additional Position Requirements:
(a) Be a citizen of the United States either by birth or naturalization.
(b) Not be on assignment instructions.
(c) Be high school graduates or have a general education degree equivalency; be a graduate of the senior leader course; and, if a SGM, a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy. An undergraduate degree is desirable.
(d) Have 36 months of service remaining or be eligible to extend or re-enlist.
(e) Display moral attributes and personal traits that demonstrate adherence to Army Values.
(f) Have no record of punishment under UCMJ, Art. 15; conviction by courtmartial; general officer letters of reprimand filed in the official military personnel file; or derogatory information contained in IG records as screened by the USAIGA.
(g) Have no record of civil conviction except for minor offenses.
(h) Have an "A" or "B" profile serial code and a "1" under "S" factor for physical profile. Packets may be submitted if the Soldier has a “2” for post-traumatic stress disorder due to a deployment and has medical documentation clearing him or her to perform the duties of an IG. TIG will review these situations on a case-by-case basis.
(i) Have broad, contemporary Army experience and background that reflects outstanding performance; demonstrates potential for future service; and provides credibility for those Soldiers, Family members, and Civilians who seek IG assistance.
(j) Serve no consecutive details as an IG. TIG may approve consecutive details as an exception to policy with the specific consent of the NCO concerned.
(k) Present good military bearing and appearance.
(l) Meet body composition requirements as outlined in AR 600 – 9.
(m) Receive a passing score on the Army physical fitness test within the last 6 months.
(n) Possess and maintain at least a secret-level security clearance.
(o) Remain in a deployable status for all required areas.
(p) Not be serving in a military occupational specialty (MOS) immaterial position at the time of nomination to an IG position.
f. Promotion: Selected Soldier(s) not currently in the grade of E7 will be eligible for promotion to SFC upon transfer to the position if they meet all applicable promotion criteria
g. Position is open to all Traditional/ M-Day Soldiers ONLY. Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Soldiers are NOT eligible to apply. IAW AR 20-1 para 2.2.d.4, Military Technicians are not eligible to apply for these vacancies.

b. Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s Battalion Command Sergeant Major (CSM) and Major Subordinate Command CSM.
c. APFT / ACFT / AFT results for the last three (3) years (DA Form 705).
d. Height/Weight certificate (within 30 days) from immediate commander.
e. MEDPROS printout indicating Periodic Health Assessment is current.
f. Last five DA Form 2166-8 or DA Form 2166-8-2 (NCOERs).
g. A copy of applicant’s Enlisted Record Brief (ERB) or Soldier Talent Profile (STP)
h. Verification of Secret Security Clearance (JPAS Person Summary)
