Rocky Mount, Va. - U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine visits with and thanks Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Rocky Mount-based 229th Chemical Company, 1030th Transportation Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group during a ceremony April 10, 2021, in Rocky Mount, Virginia. The ceremony recognized the unit for their last year of support to Virginia’s ongoing COVID-19 pandemic response as well as their support to law enforcement in Washington, D.C., before, during and after the Presidential Inauguration in January 2021. During the event, Kaine thanked the unit and recognized the individual Soldiers who supported the D.C. mission, and in return, the unit gave a ceremonial coin to the senator. Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, also gave remarks during the ceremony.
