RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen assigned to the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team conduct their training proficiency evaluation Nov. 16, 2021, in Henrico County, Virginia. During the first of two full-scale exercises, the team used survey teams and a specially-outfitted robot to conduct reconnaissance and collect samples from a suspect vehicle and offices. They also simulated a man-down situation. The unit conducts their TPE, evaluated by U.S. Army North, roughly every 18 months. The 34th CST can identify unknown substances, assess current and projected consequences, advise an incident commander on response measures and assist with requests for additional state support.
