MTC staff, VNG Soldiers provide vital support to OAW task force

FORT PICKETT, Va. - Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Manassas-based 229th Military Police Company, 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group, receive challenge coins and certificates of appreciation Jan. 24, 2022, at Fort Pickett, Virginia, for their work supporting Operation Allies Welcome and Task Force Pickett. Col. Timothy D. Pillion, the Maneuver Training Center Fort Pickett garrison commander, and Maj. Carlos Maldonado and Command Sgt. Maj. David Abbey, the 529th CSSB command team, thanked the MPs for their invaluable service during the short ceremony. The MPs responded to a short-notice alert to augment force protection measures in support of OAW operations at MTC Fort Pickett in September 2021, providing security patrols and access point security at the installation.
