VNG Soldiers compete for Regional Best Warrior title

CAMP DAWSON, West Va. - Staff Sgt. Austin Sturtz and Spc. Adam Marcus represent the Virginia Army National Guard during the Regional Best Warrior Competition May 18, 2022, at Camp Dawson, West Virginia. Sturtz, assigned to the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, and Marcus, assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, were named the Virginia Army National Guard’s Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year at the state-level competition in April 2022. On the first full day of the competition, the pair competed in the Army Combat Fitness Test, a stress shoot, weapons knowledge and a ruck march.
