Virginia National Guard continues support after Hurricane Helene

ABINGDON, Va. - Virginia National Guard senior leaders visit with Soldiers providing support to impacts of Hurricane Helene Oct. 2, 2024, in Abingdon and Damascus, Virginia. Maj. Gen. James W. Ring, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Brig. Gen. Todd H. Hubbard, VNG Director of the Joint Staff, conducted senior leader coordination, met with agency partners coordinating the local and regional response, thanked the Soldiers for their service and joined them at a commodity distribution point. The VNG has approximately 40 Soldiers with tactical trucks capable of high mobility transportation staged in Abingdon trained and ready to conduct movement, debris reduction and supply transport missions.
