183rd RTI, Tajiks conduct patrolling exchanges in Tajikistan, Virginia

FORT PICKETT, Va. - Maj. Gen. James W. Ring, the Adjutant General of Virginia, hosts Ambassador Zavqi Zavqizoda, Tajikistan’s ambassador to the U.S., and Pirumsho Valizoda, Deputy Chief of Mission, May 15, 2026, at the Virginia National Guard’s Sergeant Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, and Fort Pickett, Virginia. After introductory briefs, Ring and Zavqizoda observed members of the Tajik military conducting urban patrolling operations as part of an exchange with instructors assigned to the 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute. VNG Soldiers assigned to the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, 29th Infantry Division provided aviation support for the visit, which was conducted in support of the State Partnership Program, in which Virginia and Tajikistan have been formally paired since 2003.
