The Virginia National Guard R3SP Program provides resources and education to all Soldiers, Airmen, Family members and civilian employees to combat high risk behaviors. The end state is a healthy organization that is resilient, knowledgeable regarding high risk behaviors, educated on stress reduction measures and aware of available Soldier-Family-employee support network resources.

Virginia National Guard Religious Support and Confidential Counsel- (434) 480-2083

The Virginia Army National Guard Joint Force Headquarters Full-Time Support Chaplain is available to provide 24/7 direct religious support and/ or confidential counsel at 434-480-2083.

Guaranteed confidential counsel with a military chaplain is protected and enforced by the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

National Guard Psychological Health Program provides behavioral health services and resources to Soldiers including assessment, clarification of benefits, case management and referral, command consultations, advocacy and education.

Give an Hour provides licensed mental health professionals provide free counseling services, for as long as help is needed, to members of the military, veterans and their loved ones.

Soldier and Family Readiness Program

The Soldier and Family Readiness Program is one comprehensive program that provides direct support to Army leadership and assists National Guard service members and their families navigate the unique challenges of their military and civilian lives.  
 
The Soldier and Family Readiness program is designed to be the Guard’s entry point and primary contact for all readiness and assistance needs. We have 10 Soldier and Family Readiness Assistance Centers throughout the state to support the geographically-disbursed force and families of the Virginia National Guard.
 
The Soldier and Family Readiness Specialists provide assistance and non-medical case management to service members and families on a variety of subjects.  Services include basic financial education, Tricare claims assistance, ID card questions, resource and referral to community services, state agencies, employment assistance and guidance through the Exceptional Family Member Program.  Working closely with the commander’s Family Readiness Program to assist Army leadership and volunteers we provide training support and briefings to command leadership, family readiness groups, Soldiers and families, and community partners.


Grief and Loss

TAPS is a 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one, regardless of the relationship to the deceased or the circumstance of the death. (800) 959-8277

Dept. of Veterans Affairs

Virginia Veteran and Family Support (formerly the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program) monitors and coordinates behavioral health, rehabilitative, and supportive services through an integrated, and responsive system of care. VVFS provides peer and family support and care coordination services to Virginia veterans, members of the Virginia National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves (not in federal service), and their families with a special emphasis on those affected by stress related conditions or traumatic brain injuries resulting from military service.

Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. Addiction Center is an online educational portal for veterans and non-veterans struggling with drug and/or alcohol addicitons. The Addiction Center provides useful information on treatment options, support groups and questions about rehabilitation programs.
