1. The vacancy announcement is for the G4 Sergeant Major (SGM) position.

2. Eligibility Criteria:
a. Soldiers holding the rank of SGM/CSM (E9).
b. Soldiers holding the rank of MSG or 1SG (E8) and meet the time in grade (TIG) and time in service (TIS) eligibility requirements for promotion to E9 and be on the Sergeant Major Order of Merit Listing (OML). Additionally, any E8 selected must be attending United States Army Sergeant Major Course (USASMA) or be enrolled in USASMA to be considered for promotion.
c. Security Clearance: Must possess a “Secret” clearance at time of application.
d. Experience working on Battalion S4 operations staff (or higher) is highly preferred.
e. Candidate must not be on any permanent profile that limits duty for combat operations. Candidate must be deployable at time of selection.

b. Last ACFT (DA Form 705); ACFT data pulled from DTMS after 1 Oct 22.
c. Height and weight certificate (DA Form 5500/5501) within 30 days of submission if applicable: data pulled from DTMS accepted.
d. MEDPROS printout indicating Periodic Health Assessment (PHA) is current.
e. Medical profile (DA Form 3349) if applicable.
f. Last five years of evaluations (DA Form 2166-8 or DA 2166-9)
g. Verification of security clearance from the State Security Manager (SSM) or Unit S2.
h. Validated Soldier Record Brief (SRB).
I. Most recent DA Form 1059 indicating highest military education completed.
j. Letter of recommendation from chain of command (optional).

4. You are required to be a member of Virginia Army National Guard if selected for this position. Candidate must submit an Interstate Transfer (IST) packet if NCO is assigned to another state. Upon completion of the term, it will be the sourcing state’s responsibility to place the candidate (reassignment, IST, Individual Ready Reserve
(IRR), retirement, etc.) Assignment will not exceed 36 months unless Soldiers mobilizes with the gaining unit.
