First Lt. Michelle Rose smiles following her promotion in Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield in 1991. Today, Maj. Gen. Rose serves as the director of logistics and engineering at North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, a part of U.S. Northern Command, at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. ⁠
