WHO MAY APPLY: Open to all AGR/ Military Technician/Traditional/Air Guard, Active Duty of any Armed Forces Officers in the grades of O-2/1LT through O-4/MAJ who are members of any Army National Guard or able to become members of the Virginia Army National Guard.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet all selection criteria IAW AR 40-501, AR 135-18, AR 600-8-2, AR 600-8-22, AR 600-9, AR 600-60, NGR 600-5, NGR 600-100, and NGR 601-1.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Physician Assistant: Lead medical practitioner. Responsible for basic health needs and preventative medi-cine for the unit. Responsible for the unit urinalysis program. Manage the unit immuniza-tion program, physical exams, laboratory tests, pre and post entry evaluations, medical surveillance, and medical rehabilitation. Responsible for all medical records. Responsi-ble for medical logistics, medical equipment and supplies purchase. Responsible for pe-riodic inventory of controlled substances. Lead for unit medical training. Primary man-ager for all unit and individual medical treatment such as CLS and EMT. Researches medical training courses, conferences and coordinates/plans these for unit in coopera-tion with operations section. Provide section training events to operations for inclusion in unit training schedules. As needed, assist operations section with planning and execu-tion of whole-unit events. Researches new medical treatment equipment and makes equipment recommendations to the command. Advise commander/deputy commander on matters of medicine, signs, symptoms, treatment and other data of agents. Provides manning for mobile lab and medical treatment operations during deployments. In con-junction with survey and operations, establishes and operates emergency Decontami-nation. Develops the Site Health and Safety plan and assists with sampling plans. Rec-ommends appropriate PPE to the command based on signs, symptoms and physical appearance of contaminant. Unit Safety Officer - advises command on all safety issues. Provides input for medical section expenditures/budget. Prepares purchase contracts and MIPRs for medical section equipment and training events related to medical treat-ment and scientific analysis. The Physician Assistant will regularly liaison with the fol-lowing agencies in Virginia: Virginia State Lab, Virginia Radiological Health (VDEM), Vir-ginia Office of Medical Examiner, Virginia Department of Epidemiology, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kenner Army Health clinic, State Veterinarians, Virginia National Guard State Surgeons and numerous first class hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia. sent unit capabilities briefings to outside agencies. Keep abreast of legal issues affect-ing the CST to include NFPA 473 and HIPAA. Advise the command of any implications and COAs to consider. Ensures medical section contributes to regular revisions of unit Emergency Response Plan and Standard Operating Guidance to accurately reflect evo-lution of unit operations. Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL INFORMATION
• Officers in either 60A / 66H with NGB Surgeon Approval may apply
• Preferred experiences include: Previous Physician Assistant assignment in a deployable / deployed MTOE Unit; Emergency/Trauma experience; Chem-ical, Biological Radiological and Hazardous Materials Treatment training or experience; Physician Assistant related Master’s degree.
• Must have or be able to obtain CBRNE Responder (SQI of “R1”)
• CST Members are required to maintain 24/7/365 availability to respond to a no-notice alert IAW state and national response requirements.
• Applicant must meet OSHA standards for wearing personal protective equipment (including respiratory screening).
• Must relocate and reside within 60 miles of Ft. Pickett, Blackstone.
• Applicants must be eligible to complete 20 years of Active Federal Service before their MRD.
• In accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 6025.6, dated 18 Jul 1985, all military and civilian health care professionals are required to maintain a valid, current license which is the same as a license held by a private citizen healthcare professional in independent practice.
• Individuals not already in the AGR program, possessing more than 15 years of Active Federal Service are ineligible to apply.
• The start date is contingent on availability of funding from NGB.
• Females must have a current pregnancy test within 15 days of start date.

5. Completed DD 369 Form (Police Record Check) Only if you do not have a cur-rent Security Clearance.
6. Last 3 years of DTMS APFT history or DA Form 705 cards and DTMS HT/WT history printout or DA Form 5500/5501 (include all DA Forms 3349 if applicable).
7. Documentation to support all periods of duty/service creditable for retirement. Any of the following may be used DD Form 214, DA Form 1506 or NGB Forms 23A/23B.
8. Any additional information the applicant may wish to submit for consideration (i.e., Letters of Recommendation, awards, certificates, degrees, transcripts, etc.).
9. If fully vaccinated, a copy of CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.
