Brigade Command Sergeant Major

e. Grade/Rank: E9/CSM
f. Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be a current Command Sergeant Major (CSM) of a Battalion or a Brigade, or a CSM/SGM who has previously served as a CSM at the Battalion level of Command or higher. Applicants must be a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeant Major’s Course (USASMA). Military Technicians and AGR Soldiers may apply. AGR Command Sergeants Major and Sergeants Major currently assigned to E9 positions in a TDA unit are eligible to apply. AGR Command Sergeants Major/Sergeants Major, if selected, will have to obtain a TAG approved Command Leadership Waiver before being assigned to the position. Must be a member or eligible to become a member of the Virginia Army National Guard. Soldier selected for the position must IST to VA upon selection.

a. Memorandum requesting consideration and reason why Soldier wants to be the 183rd RTI CSM.
b. APFT results for the last three years (DA Form 705).
c. Any AGR applicant must include a signed memorandum of understanding from the
d. Height/weight certificate (within the last thirty days) from immediate commander. DA Form 5500-R/5501-R (Body Fat worksheet) within 30 days (if required).
e. Current MEDPROS printout reflecting Medical Readiness Condition.
f. Last five DA Forms 2166-8/2166-9-3 (NCOERs).
g. Security Clearance verification from the VaARNG State Security Manager.
h. A validated copy of the Soldier’s ERB/ SRB.
i. Most recent DA 1059 indicating highest military education completed.
j. Letter of recommendation from chain of command. (Optional)
