POSITION TITLE: 183d Regiment, Regional Training Institute (RTI) Marksmanship Training Unit Coordinator
WORK LOCATION: Fort Barfoot, Blackstone, VA
RANK: SSG/E6
MOS: Immaterial (combat arms preferred)

TOUR OF DUTY: 03 March 2025 – 30 September 2025: Subject to annual funding constraints.
WHO MAY APPLY: Open to all traditional/technicians who are members of the Virginia Army National Guard
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a liaison between Virginia Army National Guard units and the 183d Regional Training Institute. Prioritize and manage scheduling of unit requests for small arms training support. Stay current on all updates and changes to weapons training and qualifications. Implement and conduct formal marksmanship training for the VAARNG. Manage the VAARNG competitive marksmanship programs in order to enhance unit level marksmanship training and readiness.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:
a. The Soldier must be a member of the Virginia Army National Guard.
b. The Soldier must meet Army medical retention standards IAW chapter 3, AR 40-501.
c. The Soldier must not be within 6 months of mandatory removal or Expiration of Term of Service (ETS) on the report date of the tour, unless waived by the (Adjutant General) TAG.
d. The Soldier must not accrue greater than 15 years of active-duty service as a result of the duty.
e. The Soldier must not be able to qualify for sanctuary as a result of the duty unless a waiver is approved by the DARNG prior to publication of the order.
f. The Soldier must not have served on any combination of operational support for more than 1,095 cumulative days (five years) out of the proceeding 2190 days (six years) - this is a “rolling six-year window.” Military service performed in other components is not counted.
g. The Soldier must not be placed on orders that will qualify them for separation pay as a result of the duty unless a waiver is approved by the DARNG prior to the publication of the order.
h. The Soldier must consent to release from ADOS at the conclusion of duty, unless relieved from duty by signing block 24 of DA Form 1058-R.

b. Cover letter: A Soldier’s tour application packet must include a cover letter signed by his/her commander and include a statement that the Soldier will attend drill and Annual Training (AT).
c. DA Form 1058-R: All applications must have a DA Form 1058-R signed by the unit commander and records custodian.
d. NGB Form 23A: Retirement Point Accounting Statement within 6 months of start date
e. Medical: Current printout of the Soldier’s Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) Record.
(1) Soldiers are required to have a current HIV-1 within two years of the date called to Active Duty (AD) for 30 days or more.
(2) Female Soldiers will have a pregnancy test within 15 days of start of orders IAW AR 40-501, Chapter 10.
(3) Valid Physical Health Assessment (PHA) within 1 year from effective date of orders.
(4) A Soldier with permanent 3 or 4 in the PULHES, who meet the medical retention standards as outlined in AR 40-501, must have completed an MOS Medical Retention Board (MMRB) IAW 600-60 in order to apply. The MMRB must have awarded a recommendation that states that the Soldier will be “retained in his/her current primary MOS”.
f. DA Form 705 APFT: Soldier must meet the height and weight requirements and pass the APFT. DTMS print off the Soldier Individual Training Record will suffice.
g. Security Clearance: Position requires a “SECRET” security clearance. Must be able to obtain as a minimum, an “interim” clearance prior to appointment to the position. Soldiers with a prior revoked or denied clearance are not eligible for either an interim or a waiver and should not apply. If tentatively selected for a position and Soldier cannot be granted an interim clearance prior to appointment to the position, the offer for the position maybe revoked, Non-USA citizens are not eligible for a security clearance per DOD 5200.2R.
