WHO MAY APPLY: Open to all AGR/Military Technician/Traditional/ Active Duty of
personnel in grades E5/SGT – E6/SSG who are members of the Virginia Army National
Guard.

SPECIAL INFORMATION
• Must have 3 years of 13B experience
• Applicants must be eligible to complete 20 years of Active Federal Service before their MRD.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet all selection criteria IAW NGR 601-1,
NGR 600-200, NGR 600-5, AR 600-60, AR 40-501, AR 600-8-2 and AR 135-18.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Howitzer Section Chief prepares the howitzer for direct and indirect fire. Supervises the
handling and care of ammunition. Supervises operator and crew maintenance of the howitzer
and prime mover. Responsible for leading and training nine personnel in their MOS and basic
Soldier skills. Ensures digital and voice communication with the Fire Direction Center are established and maintained, and only safe data is fired. Trains personnel on METL tasks and non-traditional tasks focused on the unit's peacetime and wartime missions. Other duties include supervising unit-level school programs and facilitating school applications via AFAM and ATRRS. Supervise unit orders production and travel for schools via DAMPS and DTS. Supervises unit inputs to the Digital Training Management System (DTMS), including training schedules and mandatory tasks. Supervises IPPS-A and iPERMS transactions for the unit. Performs other duties as assigned.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Position requires a “SECRET” security clearance. Must be able to obtain as a minimum, an “interim” clearance prior to appointment to the position. Soldiers with a prior revoked or denied clearance are not eligible for either an interim or a waiver and should not apply. If tentatively selected for a position and soldier cannot be granted an interim clearance prior to appointment to the position, the offer for the position maybe revoked, Non-USA citizens are not eligible for a security clearance per DOD 5200.2R.
