POSITION TITLE: OCS Training Officer
GRADE: O-3/CPT
BRANCH: 01A (Branch Immaterial)
LOCATION: Fort Barfoot, VA
UNIT: 3rd BN (MOD) 183rd RTI
WHO MAY APPLY: Open to all AGR/Military Technician/Traditional/Active Duty Officers in the
grades of O-2/1LT – O-3/CPT who are members of the Virginia Army National Guard.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet all selection criteria IAW NGR 601-1, NGR 600-
200, NGR 600-5, AR 600-60, AR 600-8-2, AR 40-501 and AR 135-18.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly responsible for the daily operations of the Virginia Army National Guard Officer
Candidate School (OCS). Formulates, oversees, and evaluates the overall training programs
and responsible for ensuring all training is conducted within regulatory guidance. Responsible
for the overall development of Officer Candidates; which includes but is not limited to the
leadership development, training, and evaluation of the Officer Candidates (OCs), their welfare,
morale and discipline, monitoring the OCs’ academic progress and making recommendations
for improvements when needed. Ensure that graduates of the VAARNG RTI OCS Program are
self-confident, loyal and trustworthy leaders.

SPECIAL INFORMATION
• Stabilization period is at least 18 months.
• Applicant must be able to reach 20 years Active Federal Service (AFS) before the Mandatory
Removal Date (MRD).
• Applicant must possess or be able to possess a SECRET clearance
• Applicant must possess and maintain an active government travel card.
• Must have a passing ACFT/AFT and Height & Weight within 6 months of the submission of
your application.
• Incomplete applications submitted for this vacancy announcement will not be considered.

• The start date is contingent on availability of funding from NGB.
• Individuals must not be under Suspension of Favorable Personnel Actions (Flag).
• This position is not eligible for a CLSP waiver, selected candidates must be assignedvmilitarily and AGR to the position.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Position requires a “SECRET” security clearance. Must be able to obtain as a minimum, an “interim” clearance prior to appointment to the position. Soldiers with a prior revoked or denied clearance are not eligible for either an interim or a waiver and should not apply. If tentatively selected for a position and soldier cannot be granted an interim clearance prior to appointment to the position, the offer for the position maybe revoked, Non-USA citizens are not eligible for a security clearance per DOD 5200.2R.
