2. Eligibility Criteria. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
a. Have no personal habits or character traits that are questionable from a
security standpoint, such as financial irresponsibility; unusual foreign holding or interest; heavy drinking; drug abuse; gambling; emotional instability; courts-martial convictions, requirement to register as a sexual offender (AR 27-10); etc. The restriction regarding alcohol and drug abuse does not apply to Soldiers declared rehabilitation successes under the Army Substance Abuse Program. No accession will be made for Soldiers with two convictions of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in a career.
b. Possess mature judgment and initiative.
c. Have 3 years of time remaining in-service upon arrival at assignment.
d. Have a SECRET security clearance or higher.
e. Meet minimum reading grade level and language grade level required for attendance to the requisite instructor course.
f. Display good military bearing.
g. Meet the body composition requirements in AR 600-9.
h. Ability to attend Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course (CFDIC)
i. Have no speech impediment.
j. Traditional Soldiers in grade of E-6 or E-7.
k. Current member of Virginia Army National Guard
l. Soldiers holding the rank of SSG/E-6 must be on the current promotion list.
