Adjutant General of Virginia
2024 Veterans Day Message

Today we pay tribute to the remarkable men and women who have served the Nation and the Commonwealth of Virginia with courage, commitment, and unwavering dedication.

Virginia's veterans have a proud history of service, rooted in the earliest days of our country. From the Colonial period to our Revolutionary War, to World Wars fought around the globe, Korea, Vietnam, and decades of service during the Global War on Terrorism, Virginians have answered the call to protect our freedom, to secure liberty, and to defend democracy. Our Veterans have shown us that freedom isn't simply handed down from one generation to the next-it is preserved through service, sacrifice, and selfless acts of courage.

We are humbled by the responsibility of serving those who give so much. Our Veterans and uniformed service members represent the best of Virginia and the best of the United States of America. Their willingness to place duty above self has shaped our communities, strengthened our military, and protected the principles that define our great Commonwealth and Nation.

Let us honor the service of our Veterans and remember the legacies of those who have gone before us. We remember the fallen who have given their lives in defense of our country and who served for freedom in lands far away. We will forever be indebted to their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their families and loved ones.

We are deeply proud to serve alongside each of you and appreciate your ongoing dedication to our Commonwealth and country. Guard what you love!
