Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Mission Statement:

Role of the Equal Employment Opportunity Office:

The role of the Virginia National Guard Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office is to: serve as a neutral party to civilian complainants and supervisors, develop and implement policy procedures, provide regulatory guidance as it pertains to filing an EEO complaint, educating the Virginia National Guard workforce on the EEO complaint process, sexual harassment in the workplace and various training (i.e. Supervisor/New Hire/Focus Groups, Reasonable Accommodation), identify and removing workplace barriers and offer alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and mediation services.

Role of the State Equal Employment Manager (SEEM):

The position's purpose is to provide guidance and advice to the Adjutant General, senior commanders and managers on statutory requirements relating to the entire Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Military Equal Opportunity (EO) Program. The SEEM is the principal point of contact with the National Guard Bureau's Office of Equal Opportunity and the local office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
