Personalized certificates, proclamation available for VNG youth

By Staff Reports

RICHMOND, Va. — April is the Month of the Military Child, a special month to recognize and pay tribute to military families and their children for the daily sacrifices and for their commitment, courage, and unconditional support of our Armed Forces.

To show how much they are appreciated, the National Guard Youth Program is saluting the children of Soldiers and Airmen with personalized certificates and proclamations. Service members who would like to their child to receive a personalized certificate and Month of the Military Child Proclamation should sign up at https://2020momccerts.splashthat.com

“Each day military children undergo unique challenges, which they face with resilience and dignity beyond their years,” said Joe Duerksen, Virginia National Guard Lead Child and Youth Coordinator. “It is essential to recognize that military children make significant contribution to the country while dealing with uncertainty and concern for their parents during extended hours and long deployments.”

Families that sign up their child will receive an envelope in the mail with a personalized Month of the Military Child Certificate and proclamation sometime during the month of April.

In addition, in honor of military youth, everyone is encouraged to wear purple April 22, in honor of Purple Up Day for Military Youth.
