RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia National Guard Youth Program is searching for engaging, dedicated individuals who are passionate about working with National Guard Youth to volunteer at their events and camps throughout the next year.
The Youth Program relies on a core network of trained, background-checked volunteers. These volunteers provide program assistance with deployment events, photography and social media support, and assist with administrative tasks.
Volunteers also serve as chaperones, team leaders, mentors, or teachers for various events. In addition, those with professional degrees or certifications can serve as medical support at events.
The program’s largest event is the annual Youth Camp. Volunteers at Youth Camp can receive mileage reimbursement and work with up to 100 National Guard dependents from around the Commonwealth.
Held each summer in Virginia Beach, 30-35 adults are needed to run the camp. This year’s camp will take place July 28 July – Aug. 2.
All volunteers must be at least 20 years of age and must pass an interview and background check through the Virginia National Guard security office at Fort Pickett.
If you would like more information, please contact the Virginia National Guard Youth Program at 804-236-7866 or email Joe Duerksen or Silena Motley.
