RICHMOND, Va. –
April is Month of the Military Child and the Virginia National Guard Youth Program has a number of events planned to recognize and honor the service of Virginia's youngest heroes- over 80,000 military-connected children.
The events start with Cooking With Your Coordinators April 13, 2022, at 7pm. In this online event, participants can join their favorite VNG Youth Coordinators as they lead youth in baking celebration cookies to celebrate Month of the Military Child. This online event is open to all military youth, ages 6-17. After registering, participants will receive further instructions and additional information on ingredients, items, etc.

On April 15, 2022, Virginia Guard personnel are asked to encourage their schools and communities wear purple and show support for the annual Purple Up Day for Military Kids. Send in your photos to show your participation and the Youth Program will share them on their social media pages.
Finally, since April is Month of the Military Child, parents can submit a form to recognize their military children for their bravery and resilience every day. During the month of April, they will receive an envelope in the mail with a personalized Month of the Military Child Certificate signed by the Adjutant General of Virginia. Parents can also include a personalized message to remind their military kids just how special they are. Parents can register their child here:
