RICHMOND, Va. –
Commander of the Tajik National Guard, General-Major Rajabali Rahkmanoliev, conducted a visit with the Virginia National Guard on April 17 and 18 as part of the State Partnership Program. During the two-day visit Maj. Gen. Robert Newman, the Adjutant General of Virginia, hosted Rahkmanoliev in Richmond on April 17.
During their visit, Newman provided Rahkmanoliev with a command briefing which outlined the Virginia National Guard’s federal and state capabilities and accomplishments. Rahkmanoliev also met with Secretary of Public Safety Marshall while he was in Richmond. On April 18 Newman escorted Rahkmanoliev to Fort Pickett to visit the 183rd Regiment (Regional Training Institute).
The 183rd Regiment and the Tajikistan National Guard already have a strong relationship as a result training experienced shared by the two organizations over the past year. This was the first high-level meeting between Newman and a high-level delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan.
