RICHMOND, Virginia –
April is Month of the Military Child and the Virginia National Guard Youth Program hosted a MOMC kickoff event March 29, 2025, at the Virginia Air & Space Science Center in Hampton, Virginia.
“We had an incredible opportunity to celebrate the resilience, courage, and adventurous spirit of the Virginia National Guard kids,” said Bre Vaughan, Virginia National Guard Child and Youth Program coordinator. “This special event was made possible thanks to the Virginia Air & Space Science Center, which hosted an engaging ‘Simple Machines Rovers’ program, allowing our kids to learn while having a blast.”
The day’s activities included a scavenger hunt that challenged participants to explore their surroundings, solve puzzles, and collaborate with one another.
“It was heartwarming to see these young participants showcase their determination and resourcefulness, embodying the very spirit of resilience that we aim to nurture,” Vaughan said.
At the end of the visit, each child received a goodie bag as a token of appreciation for their adventurous efforts throughout the day. The bags not only contained fun surprises but also served as reminders of the strength and courage they demonstrate every day, according to Vaughan.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Virginia Air & Space Science Center for partnering with us and providing such a wonderful experience,” she said. “Together, we celebrated the extraordinary spirit of these young individuals, reminding us of the bright future that lies ahead.”
