189th Engineer Company welcomes new commander

By Staff Reports

The 189th Engineer Company (Multi-Role Bridge Company) conducted a change of command ceremony Feb. 22, 2015, at the Bowling Green Readiness Center. Capt. Kresimir E. Waite took command of the unit from Capt. Marianne E. Heldmann

Waite transferred from the Oregon National Guard in November 2013 to Virginia, and served on the 276th Engineer Battalion staff as the engineer plans officer before being selected for company command. Waite will face new challenges as he leads the unit while it undergoes transformation into a combat engineer company as part of the Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB) in fiscal year 2016.

Capt. Marianne E. Heldmann commanded the 189th for over two years and now joins the 276th Engineer Battalion headquarters staff as the engineer plans officer in the operations section. The 276th Battalion Commander, Maj. Colin S. Noyes, commended Heldmann on having a successful command and charged Waite with confidence and trust in his ability to take responsibility of the unit and its Soldiers.
