FORT PICKETT, Va. –
Maneuver Training Center Fort Pickett will host its annual 5K Turkey Trot Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, one day ahead of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
The free race will kick off from the Regional Training Center auditorium on Hospital Road at 1 p.m., with same-day race registration beginning in the same location at noon. The events open to the public, but please note participants must have a RealID or a federally-issued ID to access the installation.
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. Costumes, while not mandatory, are certainly encouraged. Those wishing to sign up can do so ahead of time at https://runsignup.com/Race/VA/Blackstone/FortPickettTurkeyTrot5K. Anyone needing more information can contact Maj. Brian P. Eromenok Jr., the Fort Pickett director of personnel and community activities, at brian.p.eromenok.mil@army.mil.
The Turkey Trot has become an annual event at the installation as it continues improving Morale, Welfare and Recreation facilities and events. Fort Pickett has hosted a series of MWR-focused events over the last few years, including “paddle parties” at the Pickett Reservoir. The installation is also now offering kayak rentals, and recently made significant improvements to the Joy Nature Trail.
“Paddle Parties and Turkey Trots are espirit de corps events to establish some baseline of interactive MWR activities to look forward to on Fort Pickett,” said Eromenok. “These events, along with the addition of Blackstone Fireworks at Blackstone Army Air Field, will continue to endure as annual events and become more robust.”
In addition, construction of a new MWR Center is under way. The new facility will be a multi-purpose, 4,000-square-foot facility which will be open to Virginia National Guard Soldiers as well as other services and components training at the installation. Amenities included in the new center will be wireless internet access, flat screen televisions, pool and air hockey tables, arcade games, a mezzanine with lounge seating and a quiet room for studying.
