RICHMOND, Va. –
The Adjutant General of Virginia announced the following officers have been selected for command in the Virginia National Guard at the instillation, brigade and battalion level:
- Col. Jared Lake will succeed Col. Chris Samulski as the commander of the Staunton-based 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
- Col. Dennis Rohler will succeed Col. Todd Pegg as the commander of the Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group.
- Lt. Col. James C. Shaver Jr. succeeded Col. Timothy D. Pillion as the Maneuver Training Center Fort Pickett garrison commander May 14, 2022.
- Lt. Col. Emily Huffman will succeed Lt. Col. Chris Dunn as the commander of the State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- Maj. Thomas Mecadon will succeed Lt. Col. Lyndsey Hodgkins as the commander of the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team
- Maj. Kim Wynn will succeed Lt. Col. Scott Nivens as the commander of the Fort Pickett-based Virginia Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion.
- Lt. Col. Michael Esposito succeeded Lt. Col. John Roche as the commander of the Fort Belvoir-based Headquarters Battalion, 29th Infantry Division Sept. 11, 2022.
- Maj. Ryan Strait will succeed Lt. Col. Craig Lewis as commander of the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, 29th Infantry Division.
- Lt. Col. Jason Remington will succeed Lt. Col. Donald Bailey as the commander of the Norfolk-based 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
- Maj. Brandon Price will succeed Col. James Tierney as the commander of the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
- Maj. Sidney Leslie will succeed Lt. Col. Corey Lindsey as the commander of the Portsmouth-based 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
- Lt. Col. Melissa Messare will succeed Lt. Col. David Garner as the commander of the Fort Belvoir-based 123rd Cyber Protection Battalion, 91st Cyber Brigade.
- Maj. Gregory Ogdahl will succeed Lt. Col. Joshua May as the commander of the Fort Belvoir-based 124th Cyber Protection Battalion, 91st Cyber Brigade.
Effective dates for each assignment will vary depending on mission requirements.
