Col. Frank J. Lobash will succeed Col. Stephen H. Bunting as the commander of the Virginia Air National Guard’s 192nd Fighter Wing, according to an announcement made Sept. 20, 2017, by Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia. The change of command will be effective Nov. 1, 2017.

“Please join me in congratulating Col. Lobash,” Williams said in the announcement. “I have no doubt that he will continue his outstanding service to the Virginia National Guard, and the Commonwealth, in his assignment as 192nd Fighter Wing commander.”

Bunting is retiring with more than 23 years of service.

“The Virginia National Guard is appreciative of all the hard work that Col. Bunting has done for the nation and the National Guard,” Williams said. “With over 23 years of service and having held many different positions in the United States Air Force and National Guard, he has helped to shape the future of the Virginia Air National Guard. I would like to congratulate him for his exceptional performance as 192nd Fighter Wing Commander. Please join me in thanking Col. Bunting for his outstanding career to our Nation and the Commonwealth. I wish him well in his retirement.”
